Thank You For Being Such A Vital Part Of Our Team, Sara Rauf! We Look Forward To Sharing More About You So Others Can Get To Know You Better!
Tell us a bit about your backstory and what lead you down your current life path.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and committed myself to this field by working on various projects as a Web Developer and Web Designer. I like keeping a balance between work and family life and being a mom of a toddler. I always want to be a part of everything my son does. The nature of my profession allowed me to work/volunteer from home and take care of my family. After gaining experience by doing multiple projects, I chose to volunteer in my free time so I can learn and share my skills for the benefit of others. I started my volunteering journey with Educate. Radiate. Elevate. and am excited to see what the future holds for me.
What or who inspired you to pursue your major/career?
I was inspired by the idea of creating something out of nothing and solving problems with knowledge, logic, and analytics.
What is one thing you are most proud of achieving in your life?
I will say my family is what I am most proud of. I am fortunate to have them – my son, especially! He is three years old and has already taught me so much in life. For instance: being happy, living in the present, laughing frequently, and being fearless! I am learning how every day can be fulfilling and fun filling at the same time and for this, I am grateful for my son.
What keeps you motivated? What maintains your passion for and commitment to the work you are doing?
The possibility of finding a solution, giving back to the community, and creating something new for the benefit of others keeps me motivated.
Share one professional development goal and one personal goal you have for the upcoming year.
My professional goal will be to explore the field of Data Analysis and learn newer and different
technologies. A personal goal for the upcoming year is to be happy by focusing on positive thoughts and energy.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
I am grateful for my family! My parents for always believing in me, my husband for being a constant support in everything I do, and my sister for always inspiring me to challenge myself and gain skills and knowledge through different experiences.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I like to spend time with my three-year-old and create adventurous memories with him! Also, I enjoy meditating and staying off social media – to have some peace of mind.
Tell about an amazing trip you took. Where did you go and what did you enjoy most?
My husband and I went road-tripping all the way from Texas to Ohio. We touched 12 states in a span of a week and stopped and visited multiple attractions. It was a unique and memorable experience as we drove through beautiful scenic routes. I can’t wait to get on the road again once the pandemic is over!
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
I enjoy strengthening and gaining more skills, challenging myself to try new things, achieving personal goals, and making a difference in people’s lives.
Why did you choose to be a professional volunteer for Educate. Radiate. Elevate.?
I read about the cause and who and what the organization serves, and it immediately resonated with me. Offering high-quality education and giving equal opportunities to our youth beyond race and economic status is something this country desperately needs.
What about the Educate. Radiate. Elevate.’s Purpose, Mission, and Core Values speaks most to you and why?
I strongly believe that to break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy, students from all kinds of backgrounds must have access to high-quality education and proportionate learning opportunities. Educate. Radiate. Elevate. is working hard towards reducing the equity gap and giving these children equal chances of fulfilling their dreams as they are entitled to the same education as everyone else.
If you were granted three wishes, what would they be and why?
- I wish all corrupt politicians in the world would help people and work for their good.
- I wish the world would be free of racism, sexism, religious intolerance, and inequality.
- I wish there was a cure for all kinds of diseases, illnesses, hunger, and poverty.
The road to success is difficult and requires tremendous dedication. What advice would you give to a young person who aspires to follow in your footsteps and emulate your success?
Don’t ever let yourself down by the idea of failure.
Please share your favorite Life Lesson quote. How is it relevant to your life?
“Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.” This is a quote that I remind myself of often to be able to test my capabilities and stay motivated in life.
