Tell us a bit about your backstory and what lead you down your current life path.
I have been working in the financial services industry (specifically in Treasury Operations) for close to 10 years now and I enjoy helping using my knowledge and skills in finance to help small businesses. I love cooking and spending time with my family especially my two NICU miracle baby boys.
What is one thing you are most proud of achieving in your life?
I will say my family. I am fortunate to have them (my village of cheerleaders) rally behind through the easy and difficult times.
What keeps you motivated? What maintains your passion for and commitment to the work you are doing?
The world is constantly changing and to adapt to each level of change, I am motivated to continually seek knowledge and learn new things that will make life easier.
Tell about an amazing trip you took. Where did you go and what did you enjoy most?
I am originally from Ghana in West Africa. I visit frequently, at least every year or two. These trip are very special to me because of how amazing the people not to mention the variety of yummy foods. It’s always a breath of fresh air when I take these trips. Hoping to resume my travel adventures once COVID restrictions are lifted in most places. Next on my to do list is visit Portugal!
Why did you choose to be a professional volunteer for Educate. Radiate. Elevate.?
At the beginning 2021, I felt I needed to do something other than my usual work which could bring some level of satisfaction for me. So, I logged in to my VolunteerMatch account to look for an organization I could volunteer. I was drawn to Lindsey’s story and commitment to helping bridge the educational gap.
What about the Educate. Radiate. Elevate.’s Purpose, Mission, and Core Values speaks most to you and why?
Educate. Radiate. Elevate.’s mission is to minimize the disparity in educational gap for people of low-income resonates well with me as I have witnessed how successful one becomes when given the right foundation.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
It has been a joy to work with Lindsey Wander. She is very passionate about Educate. Radiate. Elevate. and rubs it off anyone who volunteers.
Is there a particular book that made a significant impact on you? What is it and why did it resonate with you?
I wouldn’t say a particular book had made a significant impact of me, as I take lessons from reading books. These days as I found myself very busy with less free time, so I enjoy reading articles instead.
Please share your favorite Life Lesson quote. How is it relevant to your life?
I really love this quote by Roy T. Bennett in The Light in the Heart: “Be the reason someone smiles. Be the reason someone feels loved and believes in the goodness in people.” It sums up how I wish the world could be.
