Thank You For Being Such A Vital Part Of Our Team, Uma Maheshwari Dasari! We Look Forward To Sharing More About You So Others Can Get To Know You Better!

Tell us a bit about your backstory and what led you down your current life path.

Since childhood, education has played an important role in my life. Outside of school, I spent many extra hours with tutors studying technical subjects, which helped me build strong discipline and academic foundations. That dedication eventually helped me earn admission to an IIT. Over time, my interest in analytical thinking led me to pursue a master’s degree in data science. Today, I work as a data analyst, where I enjoy using data to solve problems and gain meaningful insights.

What or who inspired you to pursue your major/career?

I was inspired to pursue my field by my interest in problem-solving and analytical thinking. Over time, this interest grew into a passion for working with data and using insights to support better decisions. During my studies, I became fascinated by how data can reveal patterns and tell meaningful stories. This curiosity motivated me to continue developing my analytical and technical skills. It ultimately led me to pursue a career in data analysis where I can use data to solve real-world problems and create positive impact.

What is one thing you are proud of achieving in your life?

One achievement I am most proud of is completing my master’s degree. It required dedication, persistence, and the ability to overcome many academic and personal challenges. Throughout the process, I developed stronger analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. The experience helped me grow both professionally and personally. It also motivated me to use my knowledge and skills to contribute to meaningful work and positive impact.

What keeps you motivated? What maintains your passion for and commitment to the work you are doing?

What keeps me motivated is the desire to continuously grow and challenge myself. I find fulfillment in solving problems and knowing that the work I do contributes to better decisions and meaningful outcomes. The process of learning, improving, and refining my skills keeps my passion alive. I’m also driven by the understanding that consistency and discipline compound over time, leading to long-term impact. Even on difficult days, I remind myself why I started and the bigger goals I’m working toward. That combination of curiosity, purpose, and steady progress is what sustains my commitment.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?

I am deeply grateful to my dad for shaping the way I see life and success. He has always reminded me that as humans, we tend to focus on what’s missing instead of appreciating what we already have. Whenever I found myself wanting more or feeling unsatisfied, he would gently shift my perspective and encourage me to pause and recognize my progress. His mindset taught me that ambition is important, but gratitude and contentment are just as powerful. That balance has helped me stay grounded, resilient, and thoughtful in both my personal and professional life. His quiet wisdom continues to guide me in how I approach challenges and growth.

Why did you choose to be a volunteer for Educate. Radiate. Elevate.?

I chose to volunteer with Educate. Radiate. Elevate. because I’ve experienced firsthand how strong academic foundations can open doors to opportunities. My studies helped me gain admission to an IIT through one of the most competitive engineering entrance exams. That experience showed me how the right guidance and resources can change a student’s future. As a data analyst, I want to contribute by helping the organization track impact and improve its programs. I hope my work can support E.R.E.’s mission of helping students achieve long-term success.

What about the Educate. Radiate. Elevate.’s Purpose, Mission, and Core Values speaks most to you and why?

What resonates most with me is the organization’s commitment to uplifting students from underserved communities. I admire the focus on helping students build both academic knowledge and essential life skills. The emphasis on long-term growth and personal development is especially meaningful to me. I believe education should not only improve academic outcomes but also build confidence and opportunity. This mission strongly aligns with my belief that education can empower individuals and strengthen communities.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy reading fiction, especially romantic comedies. I like how these stories are lighthearted, engaging, and often bring a sense of humor and positivity. Reading helps me relax and disconnect from daily responsibilities. It’s also a great way for me to explore different characters and perspectives. Overall, it’s one of my favorite ways to unwind and recharge.I also enjoy crocheting, which I find relaxing and creative. It allows me to unwind and focus on something calming. Both reading and crocheting help me recharge and balance my busy schedule.

Tell about an amazing trip you took. Where did you go and what did you enjoy most?

I once took a memorable trip to California from Chicago during the winter. Chicago was covered in snow and freezing temperatures, so arriving in California felt completely different. Instead of grey skies and snow, I saw green landscapes and rain-filled scenery that made everything feel fresh and lively. What I enjoyed most was experiencing that contrast. The change in weather and environment made me realize how much landscapes and climate can influence our mood and perspective. It was refreshing and gave me a new appreciation for how different places can shape how we feel.

Please share your favorite life lesson quote. How is it relevant to your life?

One of my favorite life lesson quotes is: “Happiness is not something you have to achieve; you can feel happy during the process of achieving something.” This quote reminds me that life is not only about reaching goals but also about appreciating the journey along the way. Throughout my academic and professional path, I’ve learned that growth takes time, effort, and patience. Instead of waiting for success to feel fulfilled, I try to value the learning and experiences that happen during the process. This mindset helps me stay motivated and positive while working toward my goals.
