Tell us a bit about your backstory and what led you down your current life path.
I started in Mechanical Engineering at Savitribai Phule Pune University, where I developed an interest in operations. I then pursued an MS in Technology Management with a focus on Supply Chain Management at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My passion for enhancing efficiency and compliance in trade led me to work at Amazon as a Sr. Product Compliance Associate, where I implemented trade compliance strategies and improved operational efficiencies.
What or who inspired you to pursue your major/career?
My career interest in technology management and supply chain operations was sparked by observing how efficient systems drive business success. Influenced by a professor who stressed process optimization and technology, and reinforced by my internship at Infinity Solutions, where I experienced the challenges and rewards of trade compliance, I decided to specialize in this field.
What is one thing you are most proud of achieving in your life?
I am proud of leading a team of 40 members in a national-level Electric Solar Vehicle project, where we designed and implemented innovative engineering solutions. Our team’s dedication and strategic planning culminated in securing second place nationally. This experience not only honed my leadership skills but also reinforced my belief in the power of teamwork and innovation in overcoming challenges and achieving significant milestones.
What keeps you motivated? What maintains your passion for and commitment to the work you are doing?
My motivation comes from a deep-seated belief in the power of continuous improvement and the positive impact it can have on businesses and society. The ever-evolving nature of technology and supply chain management keeps me engaged and passionate about my work. Each project presents new challenges and opportunities to learn and grow, driving me to stay committed and deliver my best. Additionally, the satisfaction of seeing tangible improvements and efficiencies resulting from my contributions fuels my passion and commitment.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
I am immensely grateful to my mentor at Amazon, who provided invaluable guidance and support during my tenure as a Sr. Product Compliance Associate. Their expertise and willingness to share knowledge helped me navigate complex compliance challenges and develop effective strategies. One memorable instance was when we worked together on a project to automate HTS classification processes. Their insights and collaborative approach not only improved my technical skills but also boosted my confidence in handling high-stakes projects.
Is there something exciting you are working on now? What is it and why did you choose to start it?
Currently, I am working on a project that involves optimizing distribution networks using linear programming to minimize transportation and handling costs. This project is exciting because it combines my passion for data analysis and process optimization. By addressing complex constraints and improving product flow, we aim to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This project was initiated to tackle existing inefficiencies and to provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making within the supply chain.
Share one professional development goal and one personal goal you have for the upcoming year.
Professionally, I’m pursuing Lean Six Sigma certification to deepen my expertise in process improvement and quality management. This will empower me with advanced tools to drive operational excellence in my career. Personally, I’m committed to increasing my involvement in volunteering and community service. Giving back to the community through meaningful contributions is a passion of mine, and I aim to prioritize it in the year ahead.
