What or who inspired you to pursue your major/career?
My journey was shaped by a blend of inherent interests and valuable guidance. I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of technology and finance. It was a natural inclination, almost like an internal compass guiding me toward these fields. Moreover, I received invaluable advice and support from my dad. He suggested pursuing engineering as a starting point, assuring me that if my passion for finance persisted, I could always transition into that field later. His wisdom and encouragement played a significant role in shaping my career trajectory, nudging me toward a path that allowed me to blend both my interests seamlessly.
What is one thing you are most proud of achieving in your life?
My proudest achievement was spearheading an economic viability analysis for a vital project designed to serve an underserved community. This was at Surhyuday Geriatric Care Center in rural India. This endeavor wasn’t just about numbers; it was about understanding the specific needs and dynamics of a rural setting and ensuring that the project aligned with the community’s requirements. By meticulously assessing cost estimates, and revenue drivers, and conducting a thorough analysis of supply and demand dynamics in this rural landscape, I contributed to a project that aimed to cater to an underserved population. Crafting a comprehensive business plan and conducting competitor analysis in this context wasn’t solely a professional milestone; it was a heartfelt endeavor to make a tangible difference in an underserved community by ensuring sustainability and addressing their unique needs.
What keeps you motivated? What maintains your passion for and commitment to the work you are doing?
Continuous learning is like fuel for me. The idea that there’s always something new to discover, a fresh perspective to gain, keeps me excited and motivated. Achieving goals, whether big or small, provides a sense of accomplishment that fuels my drive to keep pushing forward. But beyond personal achievements, what truly sustains my passion and commitment is the knowledge that my work might be making a difference, especially in underserved communities. The thought that my efforts could contribute, even in a small way, towards addressing needs and creating positive change is incredibly fulfilling. It’s that sense of purpose that keeps me dedicated to the work I do.
None of us can achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful for who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
My dad’s advice, “ASK QUESTIONS,” has been a guiding light in my journey from engineering to finance. This lesson became clear when faced with a complex decision in finance. Remembering his counsel, I asked numerous questions, sought guidance, and delved into research. The more I questioned, the more clarity emerged, showing me a path forward. This experience revealed the transformative power of asking questions, not just for answers but for unraveling complexities. I’m immensely grateful to my dad for shaping my approach to challenges, learning, and growth.
What about the Educate. Radiate. Elevate.’s Purpose, Mission, and Core Values speak most to you and why?
The focus on education and reaching out to the underserved and vulnerable speaks volumes to me. Education is a powerful tool for empowerment and social change. It’s a fundamental right that everyone should have access to regardless of their background or circumstances. Ensuring that the most underserved communities receive a fair opportunity aligns deeply with principles of equality and fairness. It’s about leveling the playing field, offering a chance for individuals who might not have had the same privileges to thrive and contribute positively to society. That mission resonates with me because education has the potential to break cycles of poverty, empower individuals, and create a more equitable world for everyone.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, you’ll often find me immersed in audiobooks. I find them to be a fantastic way to dive into different worlds, whether it’s exploring new ideas, delving into captivating stories, or learning something fresh. Bicycling is another passion of mine. There’s something liberating about cruising down trails, feeling the rush of the wind, and soaking in the beauty of nature. It’s my way of unwinding and staying active simultaneously. When I’m looking for a bit more adrenaline, I turn to badminton. It’s not just a sport for me; it’s a chance to engage in friendly competition, get the blood pumping, and have a great time with friends or family.
The road to success is difficult and requires tremendous dedication. What advice would you give
to a young person who aspires to follow in your footsteps and emulate your success?
For aspiring individuals, here are key tips from my journey: 1. Embrace the power of asking questions—curiosity is your ally. Seek guidance, challenge assumptions, and explore your interests. 2. Set ambitious goals. Dream big, break them into smaller steps, and progress steadily. 3. Embrace the journey; success is about growth and lessons learned. Stay dedicated, adaptable, and resilient in the face of challenges.
Please share your favorite life lesson quote. How is it relevant to your life?
Immanuel Kant’s quote on the “rules for happiness” deeply resonates with me. It reminds me of life’s essentials: having something to do, someone to love, and something to hope for. Through various phases, I’ve experienced the impact of these elements. When present, life is fulfilling; when lacking, challenges seem overwhelming. This quote guides me to prioritize meaningful pursuits, nurture relationships, and hold onto hope, emphasizing the balance needed for happiness.
Is there a person in the world with whom you would love to have a private lunch and why? He/she might just see this! 🙂
If I had the chance, I’d love to have a private lunch with President Barack Obama. His ability to inspire, his leadership, and his remarkable journey from community organizer to the presidency are incredibly compelling. Obama’s nuanced understanding of diverse issues, his eloquence in communication, and his vision for a more inclusive and compassionate world are truly inspiring. Sitting down for a private lunch with him would offer an invaluable opportunity to learn from his experiences, gain insights into his leadership philosophy, and discuss his perspectives on navigating complexities in today’s world.

My journey has been quite a ride, weaving through different fields and continents. I kicked off my academic adventure with a Bachelor’s in Information Technology from Savitribai Phule Pune University in India. Fast forward to today, and I’m currently immersing myself in the world of finance at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, pursuing a Master’s in Finance. Work-wise, I’ve danced across borders—from Equity Research in India to diving into Financial Planning and Analysis in the U.S. at Ceridian HCM. These experiences have stitched together a versatile skill set, blending technology, finance, and analytics. But my journey isn’t just about professional pursuits; it’s about making a difference. Whether it was my stint at Surhyuday Geriatric Care Center or my current role at Illinois Business Consulting, serving underserved communities has been a focal point. It’s where my passion aligns with purpose. Outside the office or the classroom, you’ll catch me with an audiobook, exploring new worlds and ideas. Bicycling is my freedom, and badminton adds that touch of adrenaline. Robert A. Caro’s writings, especially “The Years of Lyndon Johnson,” have left a lasting impression, showcasing my interest in historical and political narratives.
In a nutshell, I’m on a journey of continuous exploration—learning, growing, and aiming to contribute positively, especially in communities that need it most.
